Caritas Jerusalem remains at the forefront of the fight to protect children in Gaza from polio, as has proudly participated in the third phase of the critical polio vaccination campaign. Thousands of innocent lives have been lost, and entire communities stand in ruin, with the most vulnerable— children, the elderly, and the sick—enduring unimaginable hardship.
As Israeli soldiers continue to occupy the Palestinian city of Jenin in the West Bank, Fr. Amer Jubran, parish priest of the city’s Latin-rite Catholic parish, shares local residents’ concerns for their situation and appeals for prayers.
Father Amer Jubran is the parish priest of the Latin Catholic Church in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank. Originally from Nazareth, he was a formator at the Latin Patriarchate Seminary of Jerusalem in Beit Jala before being transferred to Jenin.
The Palestinian village of Taybeh is facing the possible construction of a new Israeli settlers' outpost, prompting renewed concern for the future of the last entirely Christian Palestinian village in the West Bank. Parish priest Father Bashar Fawadleh warns that preserving the Holy Land requires "concrete action," not words alone.

Jerusalem - The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem expressed grave concern over the Israeli raid and land grab targeting its Church property in Silwan on June 15, 2026. During the operation, the Patriarchate’s representative was forcibly removed, his equipment was confiscated, trees were uprooted, and the property was enclosed with fencing and gates. The Patriarchate said the incident constitutes an unlawful and illegitimate seizure of established Church property in the heart of Jerusalem.

Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass.
